Grade Corrections and Retakes

Grade Corrections / Points Recovery

     Students may complete:

1.  ROTE MEMORIZATION:

Write the missed question and the correct answer 3 times each for any multiple choice or fill in the blank answer on notebook paper with a FULL heading.  These MUST be stapled to the original graded paper and labeled as CORRECTED, as well as, SIGNED by the parent (if the grade is lower than a 70).  On MULTIPLE CHOICE question corrections - Students MUST use the actual word answer and not A, B, C, D.

(This is true UNLESS it is a graphic dependent question,
i.e. if the question requires the reading of a graph or table / measuring tool
/ or other picture.  These test questions require studying and a retake
test.  See #2 below).

  2. RETAKES:

A student may study the material and retake the test/quiz (grades lower than a 80) within 5 SCHOOL days after its return or until the Tuesday of Benchmark review week, whichever comes FIRST.
[Send a note with your child to help them remember to retake.]

3.  PROJECT BASED CORRECTIONS (Teacher Defined):

These are also available sometimes if sections of a quiz/test are step by
step processes or related groups of information.  Please ask for details
if you are interested.  (For instance, the recent Scientific Method test
correction project required students to create a fancy poster with the 7 steps of the Scientific Method---with descriptions of the steps to include Question / Research / Hypothesis / Experiment / Observation / Record & Analyze / Conclusion).

4.  PARENT DEFINED PROJECT BASED CORRECTIONS:

SOMETIMES, I will approve a parent suggestion for a detailed parent-defined project for mastering material missed on a daily grade/quiz/test.  Please feel free to offer a PROJECT based solution as opposed to the above point recovery options.

The project must address all of the concepts missed on the test.  If a
PORTION (small part) of a concept is missed, the entire concept must be
addressed in the project (see the project in #3 above; if a student misplaced a couple of steps in the Scientific Method, the entire method had to be addressed since order of the steps was critical to concept mastery).

***Corrections which meet every expectation will be able to earn from a passing grade up to an 86.***
