I. Course Description:
Advanced Broadcast Journalism I/ Video Technology is designed for students to become familiar with shooting and editing.. Students will have hands on training with shooting video and editing on non-linear video editors. Students will produce video pieces from concept to fully edited video productions.
II. Class Room Expectations 1. Be courteous to Teacher
2. Be respectful to fellow students
3. No food or drink in the classroom
4. Observe all rules in the handbook
5. Students are responsible for all equipment (Camera, Tripods, Lights, etc) See Equipment Checkout sheet.
Consequences
First infraction… Verbal Warning
Second infraction… Teacher/student conference and detention
Third infraction… Teacher/ parent phone call during class immediately following infraction
Fourth infraction… Office referral
Severe disruptions… Immediate office referral
IV. Grading Policy: This course will abide by the policies set forth by Dickinson ISD. Major grades will account for 50% of a student’s grade. Major grades include tests and projects. Minor grades include in-class assignments and homework. Test grades can be corrected after school not during class. The highest a corrected test can make is the next letter grade. Projects turned in late will not be accepted due the deadline nature of the media industry
All grading will be on a points-system. Students’ assignments and their grades will be posted in Parent Connect
V. BJ Make-up Test Policy: No make-up tests will be administered during class time. Students must take a make-up test or complete make-up work within ten school days after his or her return to school.
VI. Materials and Supplies Needed: Binder, Pen, and Pencil, are required for class every day.
