US HISTORY SYLLABUS
2011 - 2012
RATIONALE
This course is designed to inform students about who they are as citizens of the United States and how past events have shaped the world we live in today. We will concentrate on the following historical periods: Constitutional period, major events of the 19th century, World War I, the Depression, World War II, the Cold War, the 1960s, and the last 30 years.
Class Expectations
Be Respectful! This is your school, not your house. Watch your mouth, and remember the Golden Rule.
Be Responsible! Keep track of your assignments. Dont get behind! This is an easy class if you do what I ask you to do!
No Electronics! This is a school policy! The world will not end if you dont answer that text message! You will get 1 warning and then your phone, iPod, MP3, PSP, DS, whatever will get taken up!
Be on Time! The school Tardy policy will be followed!
Bring your Stuff! This means have your binder, booklets, pens, pencil in class with you!
Take care of your business! You have 5 minutes between classes to go to the restroom/locker, etc. You need to do those things between classes or you will have to wait.

*40% - tests
*50% - daily grades and quizzes
*10% - Benchmark
LATE WORK
* When you are absent it is your responsibility to make up your work. Major grades turned in after the due date will have 10 points deducted for each day that it is late. Daily grades will not be accepted late. Assignments due when you are absent are due immediately upon your return. It is your responsibility to ask for all assignments and notes missed due to an absence. Failure to make up the work in the allotted time will result in a zero.
MAKE-UP WORK
*it is YOUR responsibility to ask for the work you missed while absent
*you will get the same amount of time that you were absent to turn in the work for example absent 2 days,
you get 2 days when you get back to complete the work
*if you are absent on the day of a test you will take the test on the day you return
