• The French Program at Dickinson High School four-year program which culminates in Advanced Placement. • The first-year French course is designed to develop skills in written and spoken French and awareness of French and francophone cultures. This course will prepare you for the second year of the program. • The second year of French extends the skills of the first year through conversation, role-playing, with an emphasis on acquisition of vocabulary for personal and practical use.Completion of the second year course fulfills the foreign language requirement for graduation. • If you intend to apply to a University, you will need two years of the same foreign language, however, as these schools are more selective, three or four years of foreign language are highly recommended. • Students in the third / fourth year of French will elaborate on ideas, ask and answer questions, narrate and describe in sentences and groups of related sentences, and understand oral and written passages from books/magazines/ TV shows and movie exerpts. Fourth year students will dedicate a great time of time for Ap test readiness. |
